Molybdenum is stable in air at room temperature and reacts with oxygen to form molybdenum trioxide at 500℃. Molybdenum trioxide is slightly soluble in hydrochloric acid, easily soluble in hot concentrated sulfuric acid and concentrated nitric acid, and can be dissolved in ammonia and alkali solutions, so dilute sodium hydroxide solution is dissolved and washed away.
